Titas Halder

Writer / Director

Titas is a director and writer working across Theatre, Film and Music. He has worked extensively in new writing and developing new plays and is developing a slate of projects for screen.

He was previously Associate Director at the Kiln Theatre, Resident Assistant Director at the Donmar Warehouse, Creative Associate at the Bush Theatre, and a Staff Director at the National Theatre. He trained with directors including Michael Grandage and Roger Michell. As a writer he trained with the Royal Court on their Young Writers Programme.

He was nominated for Best Writer at the Stage Debut Awards for his first play Run the Beast Down. The play also won joint Best Male performance at the Off West End Awards. His play The Basement was shortlisted for the Verity Bargate Award. He is currently writing his first feature film.

Directing credits include: The Lemon Table starring Ian McDiarmid - co-directed with Michael Grandage (MGC, Salisbury Playhouse & UK Tour), Sinners Club (Soho Theatre, The Other Room and Theatr Clwyd), St. Nicholas (The Other Room and Theatr Clwyd), Play/Silence (The Other Room), A Boy and His Soul starring Colman Domingo (Kiln Theatre), The Dance of Death starring Indira Varma (Donmar Trafalgar), The Goat at Midnight (66 Books - Bush Theatre), Painting a Wall (Finborough).

Associate credits include: Consent (National Theatre and West End), King Lear (Donmar Warehouse, UK Tour, Brooklyn Academy of Music).

Writing includes: Escape the Scaffold (Theatre 503 and The Other Room), Run the Beast Down (Finborough Theatre and Marlowe Theatre, Strawdog Theatre Chicago). An Easter Story after Strindberg (RADA).

As a writer Titas is represented by Kara Fitzpatrick at 42. His plays are published by Oberon Books. He performs and records as musical artist Titas and the Fox.
